Dr Amy Cantwell, HCPC Registered and Chartered Counselling Psychologist and Founder of CANTWELL PSYCHOLOGY SERVICES LTD

I specialise in autistic burnout, neurodiversity and trauma. Do you feel like you struggle to fit in and are exhausted by this? Do you struggle to balance your life and self-care? I have over 8 years experience of working with people with complex PTSD and neurodiversity.  I also offer supervision to other qualified practitioner psychologists. Individual therapy

I offer one to one therapy which is tailored to your needs. First we will start with an assessment of your needs, a treatment plan and then we will work from a model that suits your needs. 

Supervision

I offer supervision to qualified practitioner psychologists.

Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy: Personalised support for self-exploration and healing. Explore your inner world and find peace within. I help you to focus on your personal strengths as well as things you might find difficult and want help changing. I provide evidence-based therapies and use an integrated and neuro-inclusive approach meaning that therapy is tailored to your personal needs. I am an EMDR therapist and I draw from CBT, CFT , DBT and person-centred counselling. The aim of therapy can be to support with: experiences of trauma, anxiety, depression, bereavement, hopelessness, self-esteem, work stress such as burn out.

EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy

I am an EMDR therapist. This is an evidence based therapy that helps with a range of mental health difficulties. EMDR involves bilateral stimulation including eye movements and can help process difficult and/or traumatic memories that can still be impacting on someone many years after the event. 

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps you to understand your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and how these impact on one another. This can help you to focus on what is difficult in the here and now. CBT is typically a short-term therapy that focusses on the 'here and now' but can be used to compliment other approaches. 

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

DBT helps to increase your personal ways of coping in areas such as mindfulness, relationships, distress tolerance and emotion regulation.

Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT)

CFT helps to build courage and strength in facing your own (and others) distress, and aims to alleviate personal suffering. If you have expereinced trauma in your life, this approach can help you to heal from these experiences.

Person-centred therapy

This type of therapy is less structured than the other approaches, but can help you to feel empowered. I will be guided by you as you choose what to talk about.

What type of therapy do you offer?

I offer trauma focussed work, coping skills work, bereavement counselling and much more, get in touch to see how I can help you

How long are the therapy sessions?

Therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes long, but can be adjusted based on individual needs and preferences.

Do you offer online therapy services?
Yes, we offer online therapy services to accommodate busy schedules and provide convenient access to therapy.

How much are sessions?

Sessions are £120. I offer a sliding scale for students and those struggling financially. I also accept Bupa, AXA, Aviva and Vitality insurance. Please call me for a 15 minute free no obligation consultation.

What if I decide I do not get on with my therapist?

Sometimes, therapy can feel uncomfortable  and this can be noticed within the therapeutic relationship. It can be important to notice when things get uncomfortable, but ultimately you get to decide if you want to end the therapeutic relationship and look for a new therapist. 

Will therapy make me feel worse?

Sometimes, therapy can make things feel worse before you feel better, but I would support you if this happened. We can slow things down and think about adding additional coping strategies. 

Supervision

I offer supervision to qualified practitioner psychologists, counsellors and psychological therapists who are working in private practice. I can support you to support your clients. Supervision costs £100 a session, for students I charge £60.
